Restore Point provides a full array of roofing services. We just completed a roof replacement on this home last week. The roofing system had suffered significant hail damage, so much that it would need to be completely replaced. To further complicate matters, this home was originally built with a cedar shake shingle over 1×4 lathing. This was a popular and attractive roofing system, when the home was built. However, changes in homeowner’s insurance and the fire hazard these roofs can create, has caused them to become very rare in today’s roofing industry. Making this project even more labor intensive, was the fact that it was later covered with an additional layer of composition shingles, resulting in two layers of shingles and no decking. In order to replace this roof properly it was necessary to strip both layers of shingles, down to the lathing. Once the existing roofing system had been completely removed and prepared, we began the process of installing the new roofing system.30-year Architectural Composition Shingle from GAF were then installed, then accentuated with the new Z-Ridge shingle, also from GAF, providing a more pronounced and attractive ridge. While this roof replacement was much more in-depth and difficult than most, we were still able to complete this project in less than a day.
